Northern Ireland Equality Scheme

The Independent Monitoring Authority for the Citizens’ Rights Agreements (IMA) monitors public bodies to make sure they are upholding the rights of EU and EEA EFTA citizens in the UK and Gibraltar.

This means that we work across Northern Ireland and we need, therefore, to consult with all our staff, partners and stakeholders on our Northern Ireland Equality Scheme and how it meets our statutory duty to comply with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.

Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act aims to change the practices of government and public authorities so that equality of opportunity and good relations are central to policy making and service delivery. The Section 75 statutory duties also aim to encourage public authorities to address inequalities and demonstrate measurable positive impact on the lives of people experiencing inequalities. Its effective implementation should improve the quality of life for everyone in Northern Ireland.

Our consultation will run from 15th March 2021 until 7th June 2021. We invite you to provide comment and feedback on Equality Scheme by emailing
