The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) gives you the right to request access to unpublished information held by the Independent Monitoring Authority (IMA), unless a specified exemption applies.

For Freedom of Information requests, contact us by email at foi@ima-citizensrights.org.uk

Please provide us with as much detail as possible when making a request to access information, including the following:

  • Your full name and contact details (address and/or e-mail address)
  • Details of the information or documents you would like access to
  • Your preferred method of communication (letter, e-mail, etc)

Once you have submitted a request for access to information, we will provide a response within 20 working days or contact you to explain why it may take longer and agree a new date.

Subject Access Requests (SAR)

A Subject Access Request (SAR) allows an individual (or a party on behalf of the individual) to make a written request for information which they are entitled to ask for, as it relates to that individual, under section 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) and may be held by the Independent Monitoring Authority (IMA).
