IMA Five Year Anniversary

We Mind The Gap

This year marks our fifth anniversary. We were set up at the end of 2020, to help ensure the rights of EU and EEA EFTA citizens and their family members living in the UK and Gibraltar are upheld by public bodies, as promised under the Withdrawal and Separation Agreements.

Over the past five years, we’ve worked to monitor compliance, challenge where necessary, and provide guidance to help individuals exercise their rights. This milestone is a chance to reflect on what has happened in the past five years including hearing from EU citizens living in the UK and Gibraltar about their experiences.

The IMA minds the gap – we have been given statutory duties to protect the rights EU citizens have been granted by the Agreements.

We use these duties to help citizens in the UK and Gibraltar to contribute, grow and thrive following Brexit, promoting and monitoring their rights.
