Looked After Children and Care Leavers

The IMA is considering whether looked after children are having their applications to the EUSS made on their behalf by local authorities and Health and Social Care Trusts and care providers.

The IMA has completed its assurance work with all UK local authorities. Findings, recommendations and examples of good practice have been shared with local authorities across the UK.

The work identified a number of themes, including consistency of data recording, confidence in identifying eligible children and care leavers, and the effectiveness of follow-up action. Our reports can be found here.

The IMA will continue to promote good practice and engage with stakeholders to help safeguard the rights of eligible looked after children and care leavers under the EU Settlement Scheme.

We will complete a final UK wide report later this year.
